我这条小命都是空调给的！
每年夏天，我们都会想起一个关于重庆有多热的新闻：一位在重庆工作的非洲小伙就请了高温假回非洲避暑。
是的，你没有听错，就是回非洲避暑。
我们在形容天气非常热时，常常会把非洲拉进来；非洲人民表示很不服气！
在小哥的国家埃塞俄比亚，同时期的天气最高气温也只有20多度……下回可不要随随便便说天气热得像非洲一样了，人家那儿明明要凉快很多啊！
M老师的家乡位于沿海城市，工作在帝都。每到夏天，周末往返于家和帝都之间，就会明显感受到两种不同的热。
家里的热是“干热” ，站在太阳下感觉皮肤都要被烤焦了，躲到树阴里就会感到微风袭来，热意全无。
帝都的热是“闷热”，无论你在室外哪里都会受到“魔法攻击”，热得全身冒汗，喘不过气。
那么问题来了，
这两种泾渭分明的“热”，
该如何用英语表达呢？
先来看看《柯林斯高阶英汉双解词典》是怎么形容各种“热”的吧：

boiling /'bɒɪlɪŋ/ 炎热的，酷热的
something that is boiling or boiling hot is very hot.
例：“It’s boiling in here”, complained Miriam. “这里热死了。”米里亚姆抱怨道。

sultry /'sʌltrɪ/ 湿热的，闷热的
Sultry weather is hot and damp(潮湿). [WRITTEN笔语]

通过对比中英文释义，我惊奇地发现，竟然有四种不同的热:
"torrid"表示干热;
"sultry/muggy"表示闷热;
"boiling/scorching/blistering"表示热得没道理（既没有空气流通与否的概念，也不表示是否潮湿）;
"stifling/ sweltering"表示让人难受的热。
看到这里，我真的想说：
送一句万能金句给正在帝都“蒸桑拿”的同学们：
I am overwhelmingly beaten by Beijing’s sweltering weather.

Searedby thescorching sun outside his apartment in Beijing, Zhang Peng took out a bottle of clear liquid from his backpack and sprayed the contents over his upper body.
被北京公寓户外的炎炎烈日炙烤着，张鹏从背包里拿出一瓶清澈的液体，喷在身上。
The 29-year-old immediately shuddered from the chill caused by the liquid, which has peppermint extracts to refresh users on hot days.
这位29岁的年轻人立刻凉爽到颤栗，因为这款清凉剂含有薄荷提取物，能在炎热的天气里让人精神振奋。
"My cousin introduced me to it the other day, and I liked its cooling effect," said Zhang, who spent 40 yuan ($6) for a spray bottle on Taobao, a Chinese online marketplace.
“前几天，我的表姐给我介绍了它，我喜欢它的降温效果，”张鹏说。他花了40元(6美元)在中国网上市场“淘宝”上买了一个喷雾瓶。
Zhang is among a growing number of consumers who have been shopping online for innovative ways to beat the heat during the recent stickyweather, which is expected to last until August 10 in many parts of China, according to the National Meteorological Center.
