Introduction
Brethren, our topic for discussion today is a matter of decision making. Whatever decision you make is what you get, the choice is yours. From the very day Man fell from Grace, Eternity was planned by God for all humanity. God in all ages has shown Man the way of Salvation, John.3:16–17, but Man has always chosen for himself his own choice of way. Gen.3:1-6.
Definition of Key words
Brethren, it has become necessary that we define some of the key words on our topic, so as to enable us understand the message properly.
- HEAVEN
- HELL
- ACCIDENT
- CHOICE
“HEAVEN”
Heaven can be defined as the expanse of space that seems to be over the earth like a dome, otherwise called ‘’ FIRMAMENT’’.
Our focus for Heaven in this discussion is not the Created Heavens in Genesis.1:1, but the Heavens of Heavens – Known as:
- THE ABODE OF GOD
- THE THRONE OF GOD GEN. 28:17
- THE PARADISE OF GOD 2 COR. 12: 1 – 4
- THE THIRD HEAVEN
WHAT IS HELL?
Brethren, let me disabuse your minds about your misconception for “HELL”. Hell, in this message is not the common Grave, but a place or state of Torment, for the Devil and his angels. The home of the wicked who died without repentance. Matt.25:41 & Rev.21:8.
ACCIDENT
Accident can be simply defined as an unfortunate event resulting especially from carelessness or Ignorance, that can lead to injury or death. It can be Road, Sea, or Air.
CHOICE
‘CHOICE’ is the act of Choosing or selecting between options. It may be Good or Bad.
Brethren, have you ever thought of where you will spend your Eternity – HEAVEN OR HELL?
ETERNITY HAS BUT TWO WAYS.
- ETERNITY WITH GOD IN HEAVEN.
- ETERNITY WITH THE DEVIL IN HELL.
Brethren. it is important to note that the choice of eternity you make is not by accident, but a choice, you have desired to spend your eternity.
THE CHOICE MADE BY ADAM AND EVE
Brethren, the fall of Adam and Eve from the way of God, was not by accident, but a deliberate choice of action, an act of greed and rebellion.
In Gen 2:16-17, the scriptures declared,
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” NKJV . This command, Adam and Eve disobeyed, as recorded in Gen.3:1-6.
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE SIN OF ADAM AND EVE – GEN. 3:7 – 19 & 22 – 24
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said,” The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?“ The woman said,” The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” 16 To the woman He said:“ I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” — 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. NKJV
Brethren, Satan promised what he could not deliver, but brought Calamity, physical and spiritual death, pain, heartache and sorrow to all humanity.
THE SPREAD OF SIN
After the fall of Adam and Eve, Sin, began to multiply on the face of the earth, wickedness began to grow, Cain kill his brother Abel. Gen.4:1 – 10. It was on this basis the then world of Noah was destroyed. Gen.7: 1 – 23.
SALVATION TO ALL HUMANITY
Brethren, Instead of death, Rom.6:23, God extended Grace to all mankind. Tit.2:11 – 14. It was for this cause the sacrifice for our Salvation was put in place by God. In Rom.5:8. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
In John.3:16 – 17, God demonstrated His love, though His Son Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. NKJV
GOD’S PLAN FOR SALVATION ACCOMPLISHED
Brethren, at the fullness of time, God’s plan for the salvation of all humanity was accomplished through Christ on the Cross. The Lord was crucified, He died, and was buried, He rose on the third day, and gave Victory to the entire human race. Before His Ascension back to heaven, He commissioned that this Gospel be Preached, Matt.28;18 – 20, MK.16:15 – 16.
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CHURCH
Fifty days after the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ back to heaven came Pentecost and the Establishment of the New Testament Church in the city of Jerusalem. Acts 2: 1 – 47.
HOW DOES ONE BECOME MEMBER OF THE CHURCH?
Divine steps of membership into the New Testament Church.
- One must hear God’s word – The Gospel
- One must believe the Gospel
- One is required to confess Christ
- One is required to Repent of his or her Sins
- You must be Baptized for the remission of Sins, and the Lord adds the Saved to the Church. Acts 2:47.
CHOICES YOU MAKE
Brethren, do you know that your Salvation is God’s concern? Hence, He gave His Son, that you might be saved. Jn. 3;16- 17. For God in all ages has shown man the way of salvation, but man has always chosen for himself his own choice of way.
THE GREAT JUDGEMENT OF GOD
Brethren, the great judgment day of the Lord is coming, what is your choice of Eternity- Heaven or Hell. Read. Matt. 25:31 – 34, 41& 46.
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: NKJV
Matt 25:46 – And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
REV. 21 :6 – 8
6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
