History
Lenovo was founded in the year 1984 and was incorporated in the year 1988, in Hong Kong. The company has been operational for 35 years now. The founder of the company was Liu Chuanzhi. In the year 2005, Lenovo acquired the personal computer business of IBM. This also carried on 2014, when Lenovo planned to acquire IBM’s Intel-based server business as well. In the year 2012, Lenovo entered the smartphone market. And it was reported in 2014 that the company was the largest smartphone maker in Mainland China. In the same year, Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility from the hands of Google. Currently, Lenovo is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
In 2008, Lenovo first sold its smartphone and tablet division for $100 Million. Then in 2009, Lenovo paid almost $200 Million to buy it back again. This was indeed a bizarre decision from Lenovo. Lenovo’s official entry into the smartphone market came in 2012. And very quickly became the largest vendor in Mainland China. The strategy for Lenovo was to build devices that fit for all consumers. The model was very much similar to Apple iPhone’s strategy. Lenovo saw the popularity of the Apple iPhone and thereby integrated the same method. Slowly, Lenovo surpassed Apple to become the number two smartphone maker in China, in the year 2012. Since there were like 100 different brands selling in China, the 2nd ranking only proved to be a 10.4 per cent market share. In 2012, Lenovo also established a phone R&D and manufacturing facility in Wuhan, China. It cost Lenovo around $793 million. In 2014, after acquiring Motorola Mobility, Lenovo started churning out smartphones under the name of Moto and Lenovo. That same year, Microsoft also announced Lenovo is one of the hardware partners for the Windows Phone OS. In 2015, it was decided that Lenovo would be using the Motorola name for all of its smartphones in the future. The headquarters of the company is based in 1009 Think PlaceBuilding One. The name of the place is Morrisville, while the name of the state is North Carolina, USA. The pin code of the area is 27560.

Dear Mr. Yaunqing,
I am a 4th grade teacher from Stoney Point Elementary. We use Lenovo computers in our classroom. This year all teachers in my school had to turn in our 2 Lenovo computers because we were told that they could not be updated with the new software. In turn, we received 1 Lenovo computer from the school and this has made it difficult for me to work more efficiently. I use the one computer which I have to attach to touch screen television. Furthermore, I am unable to purchase another Lenovo computer as a North Carolina teacher, we are in the 10 lowest paid teachers out of 54 states. Moreover, I want to give my all to teaching my students. I am always working after school which makes it very difficult for me to do without the second computer. So, it would help to have another computer. I reach out to you and ask if you have any kind of program where I could get a computer either due donation, scholarship or sponsor. I have also created a Donorchoose, but have had little success.

Dear Mr. Yaunqing
I bought a Lenovo laptop from Staples a year ago 7/31. I have had trouble with Wi-Fi continually dropping for months now. I would keep reconnecting but lately it was getting more chronic. WHEN I bought the laptop, I did buy the service coverage but then cancelled as I have Geek Squad. I thought it would be redundant to have 2 service plans. I didn’t think of any hardware problems as the computer was new. IF I used Geek Squad, they will charge for certain repairs. So I opted to send my computer for servicing under the Lenovo manufacture warranty. I was told by the Staples technician he felt it was a Wi-Fi chip malfunction. It was extremely inconvenient to send my computer to Texas for repair, but the other option was to pay for service. When I called customer service at Lenovo, they said to make a backup as your technicians always wipe out data. I said I don’t want my data removed (even WITH a backup. I saw no need in it). I’m thinking the technicians should check the chip first to see if that takes care of the Wi-Fi dropping. I assumed your technicians had the capacity/knowledge to do diagnostics of some sort. I put on my form: I can’t lose all my data. I want to be informed-need a backup before losing data. I expected a call if they weren’t going to try replacing the Wi-Fi chip. Meanwhile I called Lenovo customer service several times I did not want my data removed. How can that be Lenovo’s ONLY way of repairing a computer? How can you know any design defects with your laptops IF you don’t test for root cause.-you just replace software? How can you improve the Lenovo products if you don’t find the root cause of a problem?
Regarding the signature line: The box beside the signature section is not checked off. I didn’t check it. A PREMIER service plan indicates you pronounce your service better than other service plans. Geek Squad does backups as needed.
My cousin gave me a Toshiba backup device. It was constantly plugged in. WHEN I went to Geek Squad yesterday, I was told it was not working. I’m 76 y/o and not a guru. I was told by Geek Squad they offer doing a backup before doing their work. You describe your service as PREMIER. I would think backing up computers would be a basic courtesy for your customers. Your customers are NOT all on the same level of knowledge regarding computers/technology.
Your technicians should have called me before servicing my computer after reading the form. They should have made sure my notation was clear before proceeding. If my writing wasn’t clear, they should have called. Phone calls are very quick and easy.
Wiping out anybody’s data when the problem is a simple fix (if that’s the case) with a chip, is overkill. It’s like a patient complaining to the doctor they have pain so he/she does a hysterectomy, removes the appendix, removes anything he/she can just to make sure they will take care of the pain. By using this approach nothing is learned. The problem was not identified so that patient could have changed the diet, changed physical actions, maybe take supplements rather than doing surgery hoping to end the pain. The removal of parts of the body was because the doctor didn’t do any tests or diagnostics. That would be lazy medicine or malpractice in the medical world. If someone has jaw pain, you don’t remove all the teeth hoping to take care of the problem.
I am writing to ask for Data Recovery. This experience is so distressful. I have been happy with Geek Squad but trusted your company to just replace the Wi-Fi chip. That’s all I wanted to be done assuming you would test the chip first rather than taking drastic steps to wipe out my data.
I had told customer service I did not want my data removed. I question a repair policy if the ONLY approach to repairing ALL computers is to remove ALL software/data. That means your technicians are trained for one thing only: replace software resulting in lost data for your customers. WHY such an extreme approach to fixing a possibly small problem?
I am writing to request you Do Data Recovery for me. I have important documents I need to access. I am 76 y/o. On Social Security. I’m not your only older customer. This action is very devastating to me, very distressing. I thought I had a backup with the Toshiba. My husband always took care of these things but now I’m on my own. At the mercy actually of others. Geek Squad has done a good job. I have had data restored with them
I’m trusting God to help me-that there will be mercy to help me restore my data. Jesus is my helper. So I just have to trust your company will help me. I am praying for someone to help me.
Thank you for any help you can give to me,
Judy Tetu
