OZMAFIA!! Scarlet Review

Time to do the link to the past posts introduction.聽 So far I’m at two good, two bad, one mediocre in terms of scoring. I want a cutesy romance now, so I’m going to do Scarlet.

From the others I’ve played, I know Scarlet is responsible for a bunch of no-good troublemakers and is rather mature for his perceived age (I’m going to guess that since he’s the same height as Fuka, he’s supposed to be around the same age range?) And lbr that scarlet cape is fabulous.

In the beginning, Fuka mistakes Scarlet for a girl. I’m not sure how she does this because his voice isn’t feminine at all. He does have a bit of the androgynous look to him, but to me it’s obvious he’s a he at first glance. Is she stupid or — why am I even asking that question?

Ah, after playing Robin Hood, Scarlet just cleanses the soul. It’s such a cute romance, I feel so fuwa-fuwa inside~

Of all the men so far, Scarlet feels like the best match for Fuka. They both have an innocence about them that makes me feel like they’ll naturally grow together. The extra scenes on the second playthrough are really cute! Basically at a certain point a lot of the side characters start teasing Scarlet about being in love with Fuka and his reaction to it is adorable.

One thing I didn’t like was how Oz family coerced her into joining their family. I feel like they knew how she felt about Scarlet and rather than let her make a choice to leave them and join Grimm, they forced her to stay with them. That wasn’t right. As one of the most powerful families, it would be the better place to stay on paper, but to force her to stay, then beat her over the head with the “rules” about not associating with other families to the point she stopped talking to Scarlet. Sure, they told her later to talk to them, but Fuka’s the type to feel bad about breaking rules and her guilt keeps her from talking to Scarlet.

The second ending they don’t end up together at all. WHY JESUS WHYYYYYYYYY baww

The narrative is keen on making him seem as young as possible. I don’t like that in the same way I don’t like how Fuka is meant to be as much of a blank slate as possible. I get that he’s supposed to be the “shota” character and that’s his entire point of existence, but he already looks young, so why beat us over the head with it? The one good thing about the first ending is how he takes charge of his own life and makes his own decisions rather than follow the customs, but I still don’t like how it ended up.

For some reason they want to keep Fuka with Oz no matter what, so we have these weird endings. The first is better than the second, but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I still enjoyed his story. I just wish it ended better.

What I also don’t like is that there’s no standard for the passing of time. Scarlet mentions he’s been around since the beginning, when the families were first formed. Then why does he still look like a young boy while the others are grown men? idgaf about being realistic, but your story should at least follow its own universe’s rules.

Favorite Moments

On a side note, my screenshot number started with 100 for this story. That makes me feel oddly satisfied. Also, 100 images already!?

As soon as I read that, I knew Kyrie would get a kick out of it. And he did, and it was a pretty funny conversation.

I agree, I agree. I still hate how most of the dialogue from others is about how “smol bb” he is. What I am impressed with is they didn’t do the usual “I AM A MAN” and have him go super aggressive sexually to prove it. That was actually a relief.

I thought about a Romeo/Juliet type situation after reading this. It doesn’t happen, though. I suppose that’s both a good and bad thing.

I feel like of all the characters, he’s the most mature in soul. Probably because of all of them he seems to spend the most time in introspection and of course, having to handle Hansel, Gretel, and Hamelin.

Poor thing!

Sometimes he is just a perfect cinnamon roll.

You know the drill. Blush=screenshot

And we get a lot of blushing sprites. I suppose it’s also to make him seem more youthful.

They had to sneak off to spend time together… that’s sad.

What the hell, Kyrie!?聽 This is not your story and this is so out of character for you to say in this one!

He’s ba~ack.

There we have it, the best confession screen in this game to date, and probably the best one there will be.

It’s standard for his archetype to say things like that, but I do appreciate honest moments like that.

I like it when people change for the better thanks to their relationship.

Now who do I pick???? It’s either Axel or the Brothel boys….

As always, thanks to Annette for the walkthroughs!
