HOW IT WORKS

Boswellia serrata or Sallaki is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and reduces pain and inflammation. Its active principles called boswellic acids, appear to be a novel inhibitory of a pro-inflammatory enzyme called 5-Lipoxygenase and possess anti-inflammatory effects.  Clinical trials have demonstrated that boswellic acids have anti-inflammatory action similar to that of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). However, unlike NSAIDS, long-term use of boswellia does not appear to lead to irritation or ulceration of the stomach.

Commiphora wightii: Guggulu has been extensively used in pain and inflammation of bones, joints, muscles. Myrrhanol, a potent anti-inflammatory agent identified from Guggulu has demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activity. The plant contains various fractions of Guggulsterones that are known as potent anti-inflammatory agents and has been successfully used in Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Gout.

Curcuma long (Turmeric): Curcumin has been demonstrated to be safe in six human trials and has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity. It exerts its anti-inflammatory activity by inhibition of a number of different molecules that play a role in inflammation. Its antiinflammatory activity is mainly due to inhibition of AA metabolism, COX, LOX. The most interesting feature of curcumin is lack of gastrointestinal side effects despite being an antiinflammatory agent. Thus curcumin may prove as a useful drug for treatment of diseases such as arthritis.
