Forget the VMAs. The real measure of the impact of a music video is YouTube, not a moonman. YouTube compiled its most-viewed music videos of the year, and the numbers are insane.
The most popular video of the year, Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," had a whopping 1.2 billion views on YouTube. The Paul Walker tribute song was a real tear-jerker, and that effect, combined with the Fast and Furious soundtrack boost, helped propel it to the top by a landslide.
But there's one omission that's surprising: Drake's mega-popular "Hotline Bling." The video only has 184 million views, which is paltry compared to the top 10. It likely didn't make the list because it didn't premiere on YouTube at first. It officially debuted on Apple Music, so those views don't count in the equation. But his effect on turtleneck sales is unmatched.
